Hike for Kids – Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge

Posted on: October 8th, 2010 by moojoes

Lynn Canyon Park – suspension bridge and 30 foot pool (Easy)

The Lynn Canyon suspension bridge and the 30 foot pool are always a hit with kids. In summer it’s not unusual to find lots of people escaping the heat and cooling off in the water. Always use caution around here as even in summer the water is very cold and fast. This hike takes about 30 minutes and is very easy. Not accessible with strollers. This hike is mostly year round unless we have had snow.

Take the Lynn Valley Road exit off Hwy 1 and follow Lynn Valley Road up the mountain. Turn right on Peters Road where you’ll see the sign for the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge and park in the lot at the end. The ecology centre is located here as well and you can combine this hike with visiting the ecology centre. The ecology centre is great to explore for kids of all ages but especially the fours and up seem to have a real interest in everything that can be found here.

From the parking lot, follow signs for the suspension bridge. When you have crossed the suspension bridge, turn left and keep going down on this trail. After a short walk you’ll see the 30 foot pool on your left. It is quite a big area with great spots for a picnic. If you want to extend the hike, take the stairs located up and loop back to the suspension bridge. Otherwise walk back the same way as you came.
