North Vancouver: Mystery Lake Loop – Mount Seymour Provincial Park (Moderate)
Mount Seymour Provincial Park is a bit further out of town with small kids but definitely worth the trip up the mountain. Mystery Lake is considered a moderate hike (when hiking with small kids) as there is an elevation gain of about 180 meters but at the end of the hike, mystery lake will be waiting for you and it is a great spot to take a dip and have a picnic. The views of greater Vancouver are also fantastic. Length is about 1.5 km and will take about 1 hour to 1.5 hour to hike with kids. We went up with 6 kids in total (age range 2 months – 6 years) and all the kids had a blast.
To get to Mount Seymour Provincial Park follow Mount Seymour Parkway towards Deep Cove and follow the signs to Mount Seymour Provincial Park. Turn left at Mount Seymour Road (at Mohawk Station) and continue 15 minutes up the road. The trail starts at the North end of Parking Lot 4 and follows along the chairlift right-of-way to the lake. Bring a bucket so you can collect blueberries along the way.
